A matchup between two of the top-10 light heavyweights in the world is rumored to take place at UFC 175. According to a report from MMAFighting.com, Daniel Cormier is Very Likely to face legend Dan Henderson in UFC 175 this July in Las Vegas. Formerly, Cormier was connected to a fight against Rafael Feijao, but the UFC has apparently thought twice about that matchup and will do Cormier/Hendo instead. Even though the report was stated to be untrue by UFC president Dana White via Twitter, all of us know that White enjoys to maintain these kind of things in house till they are 100 percent official, and of course as the old saying goes,”Where there is smoke there is fire.” I really do believe this matchup between Cormier and Henderson occurs because it’s the fight that makes most sense from the 205lb division at the moment. There are a lot of people out there talking about how bad Henderson looked in the first two rounds of his struggle with Shogun Rua at UFC Fight Night 38 a few weeks ago, and he absolutely didn’t seem as the Hendo of older for the first ten minutes. But what people forget is that the fight was scheduled for 25 minutes, and Henderson got the work finished in the 16th minute of the struggle. So I feel like lovers and media have been far too critical of Henderson considering that, you know, he won the struggle with Shogun. So far as Cormier goes, he’s been unbeaten in his mixed martial arts profession and basically untested for the most part as he’s been pretty much flawless in all his struggles, including his three in the UFC against Roy Nelson, Frank Mir, and Pat Cummins. But I genuinely believe Henderson is a more dangerous fighter compared to all three of these guys, and this fight between DC and Hendo is no walk in the park for DC, regardless of what some people are saying. That said, clearly Henderson would enter the struggle Cormier has a large favorite, if it really goes down. My guess is that DC opens about -400 for the fight, one which is very likely to serve as the co-main occasion of UFC 175 when that event occurs. I believe that is a neutral spot for DC, but I would not surprised at all if the gambling public bets him up to some crazy number, possibly. Hopefully we get confirmation of this bout soon, because I think Hendo is the right test for DC and when Cormier can finish him in remarkable fashion, he’ll have truly got his title shot against Jon Jones.
